Site Showcase - Wineman


In this edition we're showcasing Wineman, who sell a wonderful collection of restaurant quality wines direct to the public. Wineman joined the Superia family in 2012 with a stylish redesign, branding and has since gone on to be a finalist in the 2014 International Wine and Spirit competition and win the Food and Drink Awards in 2015.

Tell us a little bit about your business 

I started Wineman in 2000 after finding increasing frustration in buying wines online. There were only a handful of websites at the time and most of them were awful. Mine wasn’t much better but it was a start. The main websites were all targeting terms like red wine or white wine and the competition was huge. I concentrated on niching down the wines that I sold rather than chasing the impossible. In the beginning this was wonderful as no one else did that but sadly my secret is out and many others do the same thing.

Why did you choose Superia for your site?

I am now on version 5 and chose Superia Commerce as a competitor of mine had experienced great success with the tem at Superia and my website was a little tired and was sliding down the rankings. This proved to be a good move and my website is now a modern, fast and successful business.

What's your favourite thing about Superia?

My favourite thing about Superia is the ease of communication. The team are always on hand to answer any questions and they do this in a non-technical way which is great for someone who doesn’t want to know about HTML and all the other terms that are used by other we developers to bamboozle you into buying from them.

Tell us about any successes you’ve had since using Superia 

Since moving my site to Superia I have regained the lost rankings and my sales have increased to record levels. The ease of use of the site and the general look and feel of the site makes a difference and people comment to me that they find it a real pleasure to navigate.

What are your favourite three products that you sell?

â€â€¹My favourite three products that I sell online are The Black Shiraz, Bishops Leap Sauvignon Blanc and Don David Malbec. These are in my top 10 best sellers and are wines I would happily drink every day if that was all I could have. The Sauvignon is my wife’s favourite so I have to keep that one in there!

Anything else that’s interesting or relevant?

I now have over 700 products online and in the near future I will be launching my second website 80/20 wines which will focus on only the best wines available online and many that are not available online before but will be once I finish the website.

I am looking forward to the developments in Superia especially the social media aspects as this is becoming more and more important in the current trend for buying wines.
